Abel tesfaye
also known as The weeknd is a 22 year old recording artist and producer from
Toronto who anonymously started posting his music on youtube in 2010. In March
2011 he released his well received album called house of balloons which
consisted of a trilogy including Thursday and also echoes of silence which were
also released within the same year. Both house of ballons and echoes of silence
received recognition and were nominated for 2011 and 2010’s Polaris music prize.
The weeknd
is signed to universal republic which is owned by the Universal Music Group.
His album The Trilogy was being advertised on the Universal Music Group wesbsite, it also allows the audience and potentional consumers to see the track list included in the album.
