To try and get a better idea of our target audience we looked at the comments on youtube for the song that we have chosen, to better understand their relationship to the artist, their age category and what types of music they listen to from other artists as well.
Here is what I found:
A comment by a fan, X❤O being the Weeknd's symbol thought to stand or "Xtasy Overdose"
Looking at the same commenter's favourite youtube videos, aside from a lot of Weeknd videos, I found these all 3 of which are R&B/Hip-Hop songs, which would suggest that some of the Weeknd's fans are fans of R&B as a broader genre, including more well known artists such as Rihanna,Chris Brown and David Guetta. Also Frank Ocean an artist that produces a similar style of music to that of the Weeknd. By the commenters name I assume this is a girl.

This comment by someone that has never heard any of the Weeknd's songs before and declares themselves a new fan from just hearing this one again another girl.
Looking at her favourite youtube music videos a bit more interestingly apart from again having a large amount of Weeknd videos in her favourites she also has music from Coldplay (Alternative Rock), Hunter Hayes (Country) and YourFavoriteMartian/RayWilliamJohnson (Comedic Pop) which is interesting and suggests that the Weeknd's music appeals not just to R&B fans but also to a wider range of audiences, this girls youtube page also showed that she was from the US and that she is between 14 and 17.

And here an interesting comment made by "Dj1LL" who doesn't seem to entirely understand the genre of the music and the response to this by two other people.
Looking at "Dj1LL"'s favourite videos I can see that he seems to be a fan of Drake's music, Drake has produced a lot of work with the Weeknd and it would make sense that fans of either music artist would discover each other most likely from cross promotion over social media sites or just word of mouth from consumers. But also interestingly again this person has a wider taste of music including a few UKFDubstep (Dubstep) songs and FrenchMontana (Gangsta Rap) and LiveLoveASAP(Hip-Hop)

This comment again shows that the commenter is to some extent a fan himself however interestingly the commenter is a "Prosumer" and a creator of music himself.
His channel is full of his own videos and music which is mainly Rap with some Hip-Hop, and from these videos I'd say at a guess he's around 20.

From looking at these 3 "fans" It seems that the Weeknd's music appeals to a wide variety of people from Teenage girls into a wide variety of alternative type music to independent 20ish year old male rappers.
